I have been lecturing on wide range of topics in the areas of intelligent robotics, multi-agent systems, and multimedia related subjects (e.g. games and entertainment computing). I am also a software architect and consultant. I am very interested in emerging technologies such as object-oriented systems, agents, neuro and adaptive systems, quantum computing and nanotechnology.

My prime research area of interest within Artificial Intelligence is Knowledge Representation and Reasoning in Cognitive Systems. This falls within the crossing boundaries of Knowledge Engineering and Intelligent Agents. Thus, computational models developed in my research have their groundings in cognitive approaches borrowed from psychology and sociology and colored by phenomenological philosophy. Cognitive approaches, in a very simplified form, view knowledge as structures and attempt to explain their formation, storage, retrieval and destruction.

My current research focuses on Emotions Modeling and Social Swarms and focuses on computational cognition, natural languages, logical models for information retrieval, and reasoning about knowledge and behavior. The wider research projects I manage covers applications in cognitive agents/robots, sensor networks, data fusion, text mining, natural language processing and understanding, e-Learning, and creative computing (please see PhD projects I supervise). As my philosophical grounding expands so does my research towards Artificial Consciousness, Personality Modeling (esp. in NPC and Avatars), and Dialogue for interaction and learning (i.e. formation and presence of artificial being). This has practical and industrial applications in e-Learning, intelligent living spaces technologies, smart devices, interactive gaming, realistic simulations, data mining, and web knowledge management.
