The 1st Affect Mental States Symposium: From Emotion to Reason Symposium

AISB 2009 Convention
Edinburgh, Scotland
April
6-9, 2009

Description

Cognition is studied from various approaches, both from a computational viewpoint allowing to understand and to reproduce the complexity of human brain functions and from the humanity investigation point of view, e.g. psychology, making a link between memory, behaviour and feelings. Emotions started to be recognised as important factors of the human cognitive system. The increasing interest in Affect computing, Pervasive and Ubiquitous systems, and Socially-inspired systems gave more ground in support of emotions. This symposium aims to be a meeting forum to report from both computing standpoint and humanities viewpoint on the interaction between emotions and cognition for the derivation of affect mental states. This will include the application of such models in problem solving, learning and decision-making.
